There are different reasons for needing to attend a PADI Status Update. A Status Update familiarises a PADI Instructor with PADI standards when the instructor is:
If you have previously been a PADI Instructor, but have been out of Teaching Status for a while, and now wish to start teaching PADI courses again, you will need to contact your local PADI office. If you email PADI with your name, date of birth, and PADI member number, PADI will get back to you informing you exactly what you need to do to regain Teaching Status:
PADI Americas - email@example.com
PADI Asia-Pacific – firstname.lastname@example.org
PADI EMEA - email@example.com
Once you have heard back from PADI, please email us, and we will be able to suggest a way forward to help get you back teaching diving again.
What you will need to do does depend on the amount of time since you were last in Teaching Status. For short periods of time, PADI may just require you to attend a few presentations by a PADI Course Director to go over any changes to PADI standards and PADI courses.
For longer periods of inactivity, you may be required to attend a full IDC and IE again.
Either way, after contacting PADI, please send us an email and we will advise the best course of action and time frame to get you back underwater teaching people how to blow bubbles.
If you require retraining following a Quality Management decision, please email us letting us know what you need to do to get back teaching again. We will be happy to help you as soon as possible. Please include in the email the paperwork PADI sent you outlining the requirements for your Status Update.
We run full PADI IDC programmes every month, and we will be able to either fit your Status Update in alongside the IDC programme, or we would be happy to schedule your programme between our IDC programmes. Please check our PADI IDC dates to check when they are running.
